Live Casino Cheater to Face the Music

On Friday, a notorious racketeering enterprise was exposed in San Diego as 47-year-old Tai Khiem Tran admitted to cheating in multiple casinos in California and Canada. Investigators report that Tran and 13 accomplices cheated at the games of blackjack and baccarat between 2002 and 2005. In total, the group is believed to have stolen well over $1 million dollars over the course of these three years.

After admitting his guilt, Tran explained the con to police. He claims the team used card counting devices and paid off casino employees to perform ‘false’ shuffles. These false shuffles couldn’t be easily detected by casino security, but resulted in decks with ‘slugs’ or series of un-shuffled cards. The card counting devices were hidden transmitters that utilized customized software to help predict what the next cards would be.

Over the course of their scam, the team claims to have stolen thousands of dollars at a time from at least five different casinos in California, and one casino in Canada. These casinos were:

- Cache Creek Casino Resort

- Agua Caliente Casino and Spa Resort

- Barona Valley Ranch Resort

- Sycuan Casino

- Pechanga Resort and Casino

- Casino Rama in Orilla, Ontario

Of all of the people connected with the fraud, it is reported that 24 different casinos fell victim to the scam. Tram reports that one particularly lucrative occasion, he effectively walked away with $868,000! While this technology was used in the games baccarat and blackjack, similar devices could be used to con roulette or just some of the best casinos online in particular.

This scam has been compared by many to the well-known events that were carried out by the students from MIT. These students did not have the access to the sophisticated equipment used by Tran and his accomplices, but that did not stop them from reaching the same levels of success. Including Tai Khiem Tran, 26 people connected to the case have plead guilty. This includes his immediate team, as well as casino employees. Tran is facing charges of racketeering conspiracy and has already agreed to repay $823,612 is cash, and is going to be relinquishing assets such as his home, jewelry, and a Mercedes Benz. In Canada, he faces separate charges for his crimes committed against Casino Rama. The U.S. attorney’s office said they did not know if Tran is currently represented by a lawyer.

Just because an odds bet is your safest bet, does not mean it is your best option.  If you only play with the odds bet you are likely to get bored waiting for the point.  Most players probably will get the most out of their game if they use the odds bet as a staple and mix in some of the more exciting bets (such as the field bets or place bets).  By keeping close track of the house edge applied to your bets, you can make sure you always bet in a way that protects your bankroll, while helping it grow.

PartyGaming Founder To Pay $300 Million Penalty.

Anurag Dikshit, the co-founder of PartyGaming, has been agreed to pay $300 million to United States authorities after agreeing to plead guilty to an illegal internet betting charge in which he was arrested for by U.S. Department of Justice officials a little over 2 years ago.

PartyGaming is a UK-listed online gambling company where Dikshit owns 27 percent of its shares. Dikshit will be appearing in the Southern District Court in New York to plead guilty to breaking a law under the Wire Act - which forbids any offshore company from taking U.S. wagers across state lines. Dikshit is expected to co-operate with the United States Department of Justice.

Since Dikshit went to authorities on his own accord he is hoping that the Department of Justice will be lien ant and not ask for jail time. With the current charges against him, Dikshit could face two years in jail as no plea bargain was agreed upon.

This a giant step in online gambling as many will be waiting to see what is done to Dikshit and what the Department of Justice recommends be done. Those interested in running online gambling businesses such as Party’s or sites such as Players Only Poker in the United States will have an idea of what might happen if they pursue the market.

PartyGaming’s other co-founders, Russ DeLeon and his wife Ruth Parasol, own fourteen percent of the company and have yet came forward to settle. Insiders say that DeLeon and Parasol believe the new administration for the White House will possibly regulate online gambling so they are holding out on that hope. Others say the Dikshit could not take the pressure anymore and wanted to be done with the matter even if he is forced to go to jail.

“The Company’s discussions with the DoJ have made good progress and it is currently negotiating the final terms of a possible settlement with the DoJ”

“Whilst these discussions are at an advanced stage, the terms of any settlement have not yet been finalized and there can be no guarantee that an agreement will be reached between the company and the DoJ.”

Both of the aforementioned fighters have had impressive showings in their most recent fights. Mir’s first round knock out of Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and Nogueira’s submission of Tim Sylvia. This fight really could go either way although the bookies favor Nogueira with early UFC 92 odds at (-350) suggesting he is a big favourite over Frank Mir (+275).

Another bout from the UFC 92 main fight card includes Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against Wanderlei Silva. Wanderlei will be hoping he can make quick work of “Rampage,” just as he did against Keith Jardine in his last fight at UFC “Ill Will” 84. Quinton is looking to come back after he lost his light heavyweight championship to Forrest Griffin at UFC 86.

Fights on the under card (preliminary bouts) include ultimate fighter finalist C.B Dollaway in action against Mike Massenzio and British Mostapha Al-turk making his UFC debut against Cheick “Unstoppable” Kongo.
